Haltom vs. Weatherford

Haltom tennis had their closest district match of the year, falling to Weatherford on the road 11-8. On the guys side, Khoi Le and Tuan Luu won in singles. The line #1 doubles team of Khoi Le and Daniel Tran won as well as the line #3 doubles team of Rodney Thammavongsa and Bobby Sounavong. Key wins on the girls side came from Joy Saramosing and Sarah Ayala in singles. The team now prepares for the winter tournament season.

Haltom versus North Crowley

Haltom played a tight match with the number two team in district last night, North Crowley. In a tuff away match sophomore Loan Tran shined, notching a very impressive victory at Line #2 singles 6-3, 6-1. She and doubles partner Joy Saramosing just missed out on clinching the number 2 seed at Line #1 girls doubles. Both girls hope to get the ranking back in the district tournament that starts October 9th.

Haltom versus Paschal

Haltom faced off against Paschal HS in a home district match Tuesday. Highlights on the boys side included singles and doubles wins from Tuan Luu. Luu's singles and doubles record is now 7-2, 2-1 in district. On the girls side, singles wins came from Alisa Phoumindr and Rocio Reyes, notching her second victory as a Buffalo. Sophomore Loan Tran narrowly missed out on the victory, losing her second consecutive singles match in a third set tiebreaker. On the doubles side however, Tran and senior Joy Saramosing won at Line #1 Doubles, staying undefeated in district heading into a much anticipated match with Abilene HS on Saturday.


On thursday, the JV team got their first district win, defeating Paschal 10-9. Sophomre Taylor Hendrix had wins in singles and doubles in her first match back at Haltom HS after a semester away. Sophomore Alex Garcia improved his district record to 3-1.

Haltom versus Richland

Haltom faced off against rival Richland HS today in a home district match. The highlight of the match came from the Line #1 girls doubles team of Loan Tran and Joy Saramosing, who upset the Richland team 6-1, 1-6, 10-5. Five other Haltom players went to a third set tiebreaker, losing all five. Up next is a home match with Paschal on September 22.

Haltom versus Irving Nimitz

Haltom varsity narrowly missed out on closing out the pre-season with a victory Friday, losing at Irving Nimitz 11-8. The Line #2 Boys Doubles team of Senmon Souphankhaysy and Tuan Luu improved to 5-1 for the pre-season with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Nimitz. Overall, the Haltom boys took 7 of 9 matches from Nimitz in a close match. New senior Rocio Reyes got her first victory has a Haltom Buffalo 6-2, 6-2. Up next for the Buffaloes is their first district match at Burleson.


Haltom JV also played Irving Nimitz Friday, getting the victory 12-7. The boys were led by strong wins from Kevin Huynh, Alex Garcia and Bobby Sounavong. Overall the boys won 8 of 9 matches against Nimitz, leading to the impressive win. JV will play at home on Thursday in their first district match against Burleson.

Haltom vesus Arlington HS

Haltom tennis lost a closely fought match against Arlington High at the Haltom tennis courts. Highlights of the match for Haltom included wins at Line #5 and #6 Boys Singles by Tuan Luu and Rodney Thammavongsa. The combination of Senmon Souphankhaysy and Tuan Luu at Boys Line #2 Doubles also got the win, improving to 4-1 on the year heading into the final pre-season match at Irving Nimitz on September 4th.

Haltom defeats Grand Prairie

Haltom tennis got their first win of the year defeating Grand Prairie HS at Home. Haltom won the match 13-6. On the boys side, Haltom took 7 of 9 matches, highlighted by the 6-0, 6-0 win at Line #2 Doubles by senior Senmon Souphankhaysy and sophomore Tuan Luu. The girls were led by sophomore Loan Tran who defeated her opponent at Line #2 Singles 6-0, 6-0 and improved to 2-1 on the year. Up next for the Buffaloes is a home match with Arlington High on September 1st.
